Heritage building turned into boutique hotel | The Modernist Thessaloniki

The Modernist Hotel, the latest hot spot of Thessaloniki looks like a Wes Anderson movie set from the outside, with an interior worthy to be featured in any contemporary-minimalist magazine.

Local architecture studio FORMrelated renovated a heritage building built in 1920 and turned it into a cool boutique hotel in the heart of the metropolis in North Greece. The renovated building echoes both the spirit of the era and Art Deco elements, with a modern and urban feel to it.

The hotel is a result of a collaboration between local creatives: the stoneware used in the hotel were made by Greek artist George Vavatsis, while bathroom amenities come from local high-end brand Physis Laboratory. The concept store on ground level offers these items as well as the products of the Modernist brand, and there is also a small art gallery providing an opportunity for local artists to introduce themselves to the public.
