The aesthetics of stickiness

Shower gel, dishwashing liquid, oil and honey flow through the compositions made up of cakes, sponges, machine parts and flowers in Paloma Rincón’s new photo series.

Madrid-based, Mexican-born artist Paloma Rincón explores the beauty of stickiness in her series Let’s gooey. In her photos, the ready-made sculptures of well-known household objects are covered in a viscous liquid, dripping down at the edges.

The exciting clash of colors, shapes and textures results in astonishing compositions that—despite the fact that Rincón works with things other than just food—could easily make the viewer’s mouth water.
