A font family inspired by the Bulgarian alphabet

Berlin-based graphic designer Oli Meier’s unique font called Vary was recently published. The font family is inspired by the Bulgarian alphabet, more precisely its “G” character.

Meier’s love project began in 2016, when he was standing in front of a shop window in Sofia: he saw a strange, handwritten letter “B”, which, when rotated with 180 degrees, also forms the Latin letter “G”. Another defining element of the font is the letter “R”, inspired by the Cyrillic “Я” character. The font is available in ten different weights from Hairline to ExtraBlack.

If you want to try it out, you can download the Vary font at this link.
