art + design | Dobossy Auctions

Visual arts are the eternal source of inspiration for design. The two fields can subsist separately, too, but why would we ever separate them if they complement each other so well? We would rather further boost the connection and from now on, we will choose an art exhibition that will be currently available and we will let it inspire a design selection.

Similarly to exhibitions, auctions were also moved to the digital space as a result of the epidemic. At contemporary art auction house Dobossy Auctions you can bid on the artworks online between May 17-31. The selection turned out to be quite exciting this time, too, so there was no question that it will serve as our source of inspiration in May.

We chose two works of art from the ‘70s, of completely different styles: the Lovacska by István Gellér B. made in a geometric approach, operating with rhythmical shapes and colors, and a silkscreen print by Simon Hantai titled Massada. From contemporary works, we chose Attila Stark’s oil painting “Busty Lump Life” recalling the world of street art from 2011.
