SQUARE-ANGLE – Géza Képes

The earth tilted, borders are being drawn in sharp angles by black ink, the purple shade of a scarf, perhaps, on top of the strict lines. If above me, if below, like an island in the sky. I live here. Budapest.
A series by Ferenc Forrai.

Géza Képes was born 111 years ago, on February 1, 1909.

NYUGTALAN, GYÖNYÖRŰ ÉJ

„és kék fényben áznak az imbolygó butorok.
És a Duna: forró, folyékony üveg, benne felolvad
a sárga, a kék s az arany, mit az ég belecsurgat,
feloldja a parti fák fekete gyászát s a vér nehéz pirosát,
szétrágja, mint a sav, a holdat –
Mindezt sodorja a víz,
benne inognak a holtak süppedt árnyai.
Ó, Duna, villódzó öledbe nézek meredten,
halott arcomat villantja felém a tükör
és a lelkem már meg se retten:
mosolyogva bámulok a vízbe. S most egyszerre új dal hangjai
törnek rám – mint mikor egyik álomból másikba ébred valaki:

(…)

vihetném magammal mint surranó tolvaj,
e nyugtalan, gyönyörű éj derüjét…”

SQUARE-ANGLE
Square-angle is a symbol of togetherness. The belonging and identity of nations is presented by the unique code system of the series formed by shapes and colors through the literature of the Visegrad countries. Citizens, four times: Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest. Four cities, four colors, one section. Making four cities of four countries four-angled; a common conglomerate.

The latest parts of Square-angle released on HYPEANDHYPER are about Budapest.
