Tokyo is already frequently in the center of attention of the design and architectural world, but recently they were featured in the news for a particularly extraordinary project: public toilets, one cooler than the other, are being handed over each week in the city, designed by star architects like Tadao Ando.

In the past months, 17 public toilets have been built in Shibuya district of Tokyo in the framework of the Tokyo toilet project. In addition to catering to an important need, the project also enriches the city with architectural values.

The 16 designers invited to design the public facilities include Sou Fujimoto, Shigeru Ban and Tadao Ando, who designed a clean and meditative space, characteristic of his style.
