A Japanese collective adds a layer of playfulness to social distancing with the toolset of social design: by keeping the required distance, visitors can play Erik Satie’s beautiful piano piece.
Classical music plays from a source hidden at first glance at the entrance to the DESIGNART TOKYO 2020 event: in reality it is provided by the steps of visitors, as NOSINGER drew a giant sheet of music on the floor, the notes of which are activated when being stepped on, thus bringing Social Harmony to life.
The notes are placed in a manner to comply with the safe distance regulations imposed due to the epidemic. And so if looking out for ourselves and each other by keeping the distance weren’t enough, we also get to enjoy Erik Satie’s Gymnopédie nº1.
