This week’s guide features programs that can add some meaning to the long hours spent at home. They pull us out from bingeing on disaster news, they let us develop ourselves or we can help others with them – if only by sewing a couple of masks, with workshop videos, distracting design documentaries, creative works that make us smile or by supporting Hungarian design by purchasing from Hungarian designers. The motto of our week: together we stand!
Digital Design Calendar
Design Museum in London has also moved to the online domain: from April 1, they publish regular content for both children and adults, design gurus and enthusiastic laymen. You can browse through the upcoming events in the Digital Design Calendar uploaded to the website of the institution: the site offers cherry-picking from the archives of previous exhibitions, live talks, studio tours with designers, freely downloadable exhibition miniatures with iconic design objects for children and many other materials. The content is updated continuously, so it might be worth to check in each week!
SPARK THE HOME #BUYHUNGARIAN
What happens with the small enterprises of Hungarian designers during the quarantine? The stores are closed, not everybody has an online store: designers also face a challenging period. SPARK LE HOME, the new initiative of SPARK LE MONDE attempts to bring relief to this problem: it launches a new page with the products of 11 designers available for ordering online, including pieces from Alma Vetlényi, Anna Daubner and Philomén. Now you can purchase the pieces of the long-awaited spring collections, and can support Hungarian design at the same time!

Gary Hustwit – Urbanized online!
This week, Gary Hustwit’s design documentary available online brings us to the realm of architecture: it offers to take a closer look at urban design. Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without star designers: Hustwit’s film features famous architects including Oscar Niemayer or Sir Norman Foster.
When: until April 7, 2020
Zero Water Waste Workshop – online
We can hear about zero waste quite a lot, while zero water waste is a much less common term, even though water usage is an equally important ecological issue. How to use water more consciously and economically? At the online workshop of Fabrik and Neptunus, participants will create a Mad Max-inspired comic book, containing the most important information and ideas related to the topic.

Müskinn mask-making workshop
We have already written about the initiative of Hannabi and Adománytaxi Masks for the front-line! and we also reported that several designers also joined the movement. Including Müskinn who will present the tricks of making masks in the framework of an “online workshop”, so we can also dive into sewing at home. Bring it on!
Life has turned upside down, and maybe now we have a little more time to express our thoughts and feelings through art. Several galleries are curious about the creative responses to the current situation, made behind the closed doors. 1111 welcomes the documentation of projects that respond to the situation resulting from the outbreak so that they can share them on their online platforms. The Hungarian National Gallery also welcomes any works of art created at home that emerge out of the strange combinations of household objects. Let your fantasy run wild, fill Instagram with quarantine creations!
