Virtual fashion show without models | Hanifa

The designer of Hanifa, Anifa Mvuemba has already contemplated a fashion show without flesh-and-blood models long before the pandemic – now it seems as if the circumstances adjusted to her ideas.

In addition to designing clothes, a great passion of Congolese fashion designer Anifa Mvuemba is 3D modelling. This is how the thought of presenting her collection Pink Label Congo online was born. The unconventional show was livestreamed on May 22 on Instagram, with more than 10,000 viewers.

As told by Mvuemba, the clothes were largely inspired by the landscapes and colors of her homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the majestic women living there. The 3D “ghost fashion show” also went viral on Twitter. Many peopled praised the method because it allows for full equality: neither the skin color or body of models is a factor, and every viewer gets to sit front row.
