The 13th Budapest Architecture Film Days festival kicks off soon

The 13th edition of the Budapest Architecture Film Days starts on March 4. In view of the pandemic, screenings and supporting events will be held online on the Távmozi online cinema website.

Organized by the Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre for the thirteenth time, the festival’s main themes this year are the concepts of restarting and reconnecting: the screened films depict the consequences of decisions and questions that define our everyday lives. Notions such as reuniting individuals with their communities, solidarity, the importance of empathy, a more conscious and sensitive relationship with nature, traveling without environmental pollution, and the vision of sustainable development are also highlighted in the films.

Making a Mountain

The festival showcases more than a dozen already acclaimed and debuting films related to this year’s motto: Reconnect. Entries came from more than twenty countries. This year’s opening film, Making a Mountain, follows the strory of building a waste-to-energy plant called CopenHill in Copenhagen, designed by the architects of BIG, from the announcement of the tender to its handover in 2020. Besides this, we can follow various inspiring stories about repurposing buildings that have lost their function, utopian solutions, and the topic of creating a collaborative, solidarity-based village.

Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On

Due to the current restrictions, the screenings have moved to the online space, but fortunately, this doesn’t mean we have to do without the festival’s supporting events. All films will be screened in their original languages with Hungarian or English subtitles. The selling of early bird tickets will start on February 25 on the Távmozi website. The complete festival program is available on the website of the Budapest Architecture Film Days.
