Young talents opened this year’s Budapest Fashion Week

The Budapest Fashion Week showcasing 2020-21 fall/winter collections commenced last Thursday with the shows of the participants of the Young Talents Program organized for the first time, which is the first stage of the talent program launched by the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency at the same time.

The five fashion designers presenting their collections in the Young Talents show of the event – Noémi Ferencz (Zeraw), Stefania Schrodl (Stefania Schrodl), Noémi Bráz (Noen Design), Martha Szentirmai (MILLAAS) and Piroska Papp (Nalery) – participate in a six-month course during the fall, which provides the young designers facing the adventures of establishing their own brand and entering the market with forward-looking knowledge and practical experience through workshops, professional consultations and study trips. Three designers out of the five are fresh graduates and thus showcased their diploma collections at the event, while the other two showed the results of their first few years on the labor market with their latest collections.

The initiative opens new perspectives for the designers also on the field of professional relationships. In addition to the opportunity of presenting their work at the Budapest Central European Fashion Week, the various study trips also allow the mentees to get to know the most important points and participants of the professional value chain in person – including factories and showrooms. Furthermore, the Young Talents Program also offers an insight into the professional community of the fashion industry: if allowed by the epidemiological situation, the participants will be able to visit important events such as the Budapest Fashion-Tech Summit, a platform of international dialogue.
